Many times while using Spectrum Internet, the users may need to replace their old modem or activate a new one. In case, you are looking for the procedure to do so, you are at the right place.

In this article, we will guide you properly how to activate or replace a modem.

How to Activate or Replace a Spectrum Modem?

These are the required equipment:

  • Power cord
  • Ethernet or USB cord
  • Coaxial cable
  • Modem

Connect your modem

  • To get details for the self-install kit, click here.
  • Now, open your web browser.
  • Automatically, a spectrum web page will open and identify your account. Just in case, it doesn’t open it, you can access the activation website.

Take a note: It is recommended to connect your modem to a wall outlet directly and not to use a splitter. In case, you use a splitter, ensure that it is rated as 3.5 dBmv.

How to install a new Modem?

After accessing the self-activation tool, follow:

  • Select the Install new Service option.
  • Now enter your account number, telephone number, and zip code.
  • Select the Next option and keep on following the Internet Self-Installation steps.
  • To test your connection, visit net.

How to replace an existing modem?

Follow the given steps to replace your old modem:

  • At first, access your activation tool.
  • Select the option ‘Replace my Equipment’.
  • Next, enter your Account Number.
  • Now enter CMAC Address (serial number) and Cable RF MAC address. You will see it on your old modem.
  • Select the Next option and keep on following the Internet Self-Installation steps.
  • To test your connection, visit net.

How to replace an existing modem

In case you have replaced your old Spectrum modem with a new one, your receipt will provide your old and new MAC address, both.
