Of late, TomTom rolled out its new GPS navigation unit – TomTom TRUCKER – which is specifically designed for truckers to reach their destination in a more efficient way.
Available in two sizes, TomTom TRUCKER is updatable over Wi-Fi and comes with Lifetime maps subscription for Canada and the U.S. The newly added tailored routing feature guides the drivers to select POIs (Point of interest) for trucks, such as travel centers and fuel stops. The GPS unit is compatible with Google Now and Siri voice recognition software so that truckers can safely access their personal assistant.
Truckers will get customized routes according to truck’s weight, dimensions, max speed cargo and arrival time; thereby, ensuring an efficient journey. At present, the unit includes more than 1,500 travel centers and POIs.
Moreover, by using TomTom TRUCKER, traffic on highways as well as on secondary roads can be avoided. Also, the device displays accident blackspot points or standing traffic ahead by sending traffic alerts that help avoid sudden braking.
The Managing Director, Mike Schoofs said, “With the new TomTom TRUCKER, life on the road has just got that little bit more relaxed with traffic predictions, alerts and routes tailored to the size and weight of your vehicle – and even the cargo that you’re hauling. Plus, we’ve added Wi-Fi, so keeping your maps up to date is easier than ever.”
The retail price of TomTom TRUCKER 620 is 329.99 USD/429.99 CAD. This 6”-screen navigation device is available to purchase at National Travel Centers & truck shops, Amazon and the TomTom webstore. The 5”-screen, TomTom TRUCKER 520, navigation unit is available at 299.99 USD/399.99 CAD on Amazon and the TomTom webstore.
